Ayso 205 Tournament Scoring Criteria
Scoring to determine Bracket Winners:
The teams will be ranked in order of points earned for wins and ties:
WIN 6 points
TIE 3 point
LOSS 0 points
EXCEPTION: Due to uneven teams in U-12 boys, the points will be earned as such:
WIN 8 points
WIN 6 points (team 111…..with 4 games)
TIE 3 points
LOSS 0 points
Ties: Ties will be allowed in the preliminary rounds, but will not be allowed in the semi-finals
or finals. During the semi-finals or finals, if two teams are tied at the end of the game, two
five minute periods will be played in their entirety. (No sudden death). If the score is still
tied at the completion of the second five (5) minute overtime, penalty kicks will be taken
according to FIFA rules to decide the game. The Time and Field location will be determined
by the Tournament Committee.
Performance ranking criteria: Among teams with the same number of points, final placing
will be determined by the following tie breaker rules which will be applied in order:
FIRST TIE BREAKER: head to head competition(not applicable if the tie involves
more than two teams).
SECOND TIE BREAKER: In cases where the above head to head competition does
not differentiate between teams, goals against each team will be totaled for the
first three games. Then the team having the fewest goals scored against them will
be determined as having the better record.
THIRD TIE BREAKER: Most wins during the preliminary round games
FOURTH TIE BREAKER: Goals scored by each team will be totaled for the first three
games. The team having the most goals will be determined as having the better
record.
FIFTH TIE BREAKER: Penalty kicks. Time and Field location will be determined by
the tournament director.
REPORTING SCORES: The score of each game will be reported to the tournament director by
9pm of the evening the game was played. If the game is on Saturday, the scores will be

AYSO Region 205 Shootout Rules
All players present and having participated in the game at the end of regulation
time, and whom have not been ejected from the game, shall be eligible to take
part in the shoot-out. IMMEDIATELY at the conclusion of the game, these players
and their coach(s) are to go to the center-circle and must not leave the field of
play.
The referee shall choose the goal at which all the shoot-out kicks shall be
taken. The referee shall toss a coin which the home team captain(s) will call.
The Team who wins shall have the choice of kicking first or last.
Both coaches are to identify the order which their players will be taking the
shoot-out kicks. The coach needs to supply the referee with this list before
the game begins.
Other than the player taking a kick from the penalty-mark, and the two
goalkeepers, all eligible players and their coaches shall remain within the
center circle while the taking of kicks is in progress.
The goalkeeper who is a colleague of the kicker, shall take a position within
the field of play, outside the penalty area at which the kicks are being taken,
behind the line that runs parallel with the goal-line, and at least 10 yards from
the penalty-mark. A good position is at the corner of the 18 yard line.
Any eligible player may change places with his/her goalkeeper at any time
during the taking of the shoot-out kicks.
A goalkeeper who sustains an injury during the taking of the shoot-out kicks,
and who because of that injury is unable to continue as goalkeeper, may be
replaced by any eligible player.
Each kick shall be taken by a different eligible player, and not until all eligible
players of a team, including the goalkeeper, have taken a kick, may an eligible
player take a second kick.
If, before both teams have taken their first FIVE shoot-out kicks, one team has
scored more goals than the other team could, even if they were to complete
their FIVE kicks, the taking of shoot-out kicks will cease, and the team with the
most goals is declared the winner. To rephrase this, this is a best of FIVE goals
scored format. At least THREE kicks have to be taken before a winner is
declared.
If, after both teams have taken FIVE kicks, and both have scored the same
number of goals, (a tie), the taking of kicks shall continue until such time as
both teams have taken an EQUAL number of kicks and one team has scored a
goal more than the other. To rephrase this, after FIVE kicks and the score is
tied, then it goes into sudden death, one goal kick for each team, until one
team scores, and the opponent fails to do likewise.
