AYSO cancels all soccer programs until August 1, 2020

Good Evening AYSO Soccer Parents, Coaches, Referees, and Board Members,
I hope this email finds everyone safe, well, and healthy. The coronavirus pandemic has effected everyone in the Country, the State of Michigan and the Downriver Community and restricted our social interaction. The Governor has imposed a stay at home order until May 15. Some businesses have reopened but too many are still closed. The school year was shortened. And yes, AYSO Region 205 ,(that is us) has felt the seriousness of this virus.
We registered 66 new Spring players and added 5 new teams. In order for there to be a fair Spring Season, and be able to teach the new players and reacquaint them with their new teammates, we felt that all the teams would need 4 weeks of practice before beginning play.  If the stay at home order was lifted May 15, that  would stretch the season into mid-July. But, one word reverberated through our ZOOM Board Meeting: SAFE
Our soccer program, is based on these 3 words; SAFE, FAIR and FUN.  We cannot guarantee that our program would be safe amidst the current pandemic. So,as a result we are cancelling all activities until August 1, 2020. That list includes:
Winter Soccer Camp #2
Spring Soccer
Town Hall Meeting
Summer Soccer Camp
Refunds will be an issue. Currently AYSO is working with the Regions to provide refunds. The programs eligible for refunds are:
1.. Fall19Sp20
2.  Spring 20
3.  Winter Camp #2
The refund options that AYSO is contemplating at this time are:
1. Credit Coupons to be used for the Fall20Spring21 season
2. Refunds for Spring via credit card reimbursement
3, Individual check refunds

If you are eligible for a refund, and are unemployed and in a financial bind, you need to contact me within the next 2 days for an immediate refund check.

I will email all of you again by Friday, May 1 with the options available for you. I apologize for not being able to get a Spring Season under way. I was really looking forward to watching everyone play. The Board of Directors and I felt that the gamble with your child's health was just to big of an obstacle to overcome.
I do hope that a majority of you will use the refund as a credit to our Fall20Spring21 season.

Thank-you for understanding our position. and taking the time to read this e-mail.
