A welcome letter from our new commissioner

Dear AYSO Community,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am Jakki Malnar, the new commissioner of AYSO Downriver. My husband Mike and I are a coaching team, and our son Quinn plays in the league. When our family is not at the fields we're lovers of the outdoors. We spend as much time as we can in Northern MI, we love riding bikes, fishing and hiking.

I would like to let parents know of a few changes to expect.

-First, our Fall and Spring season will now be separated. You will have to individually register for each season. We have made this change to help with some administrative issues. A few things to note with this change. You will only be required to pay the AYSO membership fee one time per school year (Fall 2025/Spring 2026). You will receive a Jersey for Fall Season and a new Jersey for Spring Season.

- If you would like to request a coach or friend as a teammate you will be asked to Volunteer. Available volunteer roles include working our information tent, helping at our Picture Day Carnival, or Lining the Fields. Any of these positions will require 3 hrs of time maximum for the entire season.

-Fall registration is currently open! Registration closes on 8/1. There will be no late registration this year. We aim for practices to begin in mid August, first games will be played after Labor Day.

I love our league and am excited to help provide a fun, safe and fair environment for our kids to play in. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to me via this email.
